Keynote SpeakerDr. Richard K. Lester
GSE is pleased to announce our Keynote Speaker for SimWorld 2012, noted nuclear scientist, author and educator, Richard K. Lester of MIT. Dr. Lester will headline a prestigious panel of expert speakers. As head of MIT’s Nuclear Science and Engineering Department, Dr. Lester works to advance the frontiers of research and education in energy and non-energy applications of nuclear science and technology. He is also the founding director of MIT’s Industrial Performance Center. Dr. Lester’s research focuses on innovation management and policy, with an emphasis on the energy and manufacturing sectors. His latest book is Unlocking Energy Innovation: How America Can Build a Low-Cost, Low-Carbon Energy System (MIT Press, 2012). Dr. Lester obtained his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Imperial College (London), a doctorate in nuclear engineering from MIT and he has been a member of the MIT faculty since 1979. He serves on several boards as an advisor and consultant to corporations, governments, foundations and non-profit groups and speaks frequently to academic, business and general audiences throughout the world. “As an accomplished energy expert, Dr. Lester will provide insight on the future of this industry and where we, as professionals, stand in the drive for increased innovation and productivity,” said Gill Grady, senior vice president of GSE Systems, Inc. “We are excited to have him on board.
